Background:

Rob is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon who specialises in arthroscopic (keyhole) knee surgery and soft tissue knee injuries.

Rob was appointed as a Consultant at WWL after completing his orthopaedic training at the Robert Jones and Agnes Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry.

During his specialist orthopaedic training Rob spent 17 months working at the National Centre for Sports Injury Surgery under the supervision of eminent sport/knee surgeon Mr Dai Rees, which helped shape Rob’s career in sports knee surgery.

During his final year as a Specialist Registrar, Rob was awarded the BOSTAA (British Orthopaedic Sport Trauma and Arthroscopy Association) travelling fellowship in sports surgery. This enabled him to visit centres of excellence throughout the USA, and learn from leading knee surgeons Dr Walter Lowe, Huston, Texas; Dr Patrick Smith, Columbia, Missouri and Dr James Guerra, Naples, Florida.

As part of his specialist training, Rob also spent six months studying under Prof. James Richardson, where he trained in cartilage reconstruction techniques and stem cell therapies.

Rob’s clinical commitments include treating knee ligament injuries, meniscus preservation surgery and cartilage restoration techniques. He also has an active interest in research and has published in both European and American scientific journals.
