Background:

Mr. Browne qualified from the Royal College of Surgeons in Dublin in 1975. Following his orthopaedic residency he undertook fellowships at Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in New York, a sports medicine fellowship at Centinella Hospital in Los Angeles, and further fellowships at the Mayo Clinic, at Bern in Switzerland and at Wrightington.
 
He has qualifications in orthopaedic biomechanics, designed instruments and was awarded the Gussy Mehigan Memorial Scholarship, Irish American Orthopaedic Society Scholarship and Travelling Fellowship from the Royal College of Surgeons.
