Jez is a Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon with a special interest in joint replacements of the lower limb. He qualified from Cardiff Medical School in 2001 and after basic surgical training he obtained a place on the prestigious Orthopaedic Training Programme at the Robert Jones and Agnus Hunt Orthopaedic Hospital in Oswestry, Shropshire.
Upon completion of training he gained further experience from working at the world renowned Centre for Hip Surgery at Wrightington Hospital under the supervision of Mr John Hodgkinson. He was appointed as a substantive consultant in 2013.
Jez now undertakes 350+ primary hip and knee replacements each year as well as complex revision (redo) procedures, some arthroscopic knee surgery and some trauma surgery. He actively promotes an enhanced recovery approach to all patients and is continuing to look for ways to improve recovery and patient experience post-surgery.
As well as his clinical commitment Jez has various managerial roles and is currently the Clinical Director for Lower Limb Orthopaedics at Wrightington. He also continues to be involved in research activity and teaching of junior trainees.
In his spare time he is kept busy by his two young sons and two old Labradors occasionally getting free time to watch the rugby!
